Ever since I learned to swim, I had to cycle alone to the stream to fish. At first, it was with a spinning rod, but by the time I was 13, I got my first fly rod and became fascinated by this type of fishing. And ever since, the fly rod has been my preferred tool in the pursuit of fish. The best part is casting, presenting, and fishing with a fly that I have tied myself. Therefore, fly tying became a natural part of my fly fishing.
I live in North Jutland, just outside Brønderslev, where I was born and raised. Here, I am only a 5-minute drive from Ryå, where I fish for brown trout and sea trout. The trips also often go to other North Jutland streams and the Himmerland waterways. Besides the local stream fishing, the trips often go to the coast for sea trout and bass or to the Danish salmon rivers, where especially Skjern Å has a special place and can make me pack the two-handed rod and head west.
Fly fishing has also taken me on adventures in Sweden, Norway, Mexico, and Canada. And hopefully, it will take me to more places over time.
Besides tying flies for my fishing, I also think it's cool to challenge myself with fly types, tying techniques, and/or new materials, even if they are not necessarily flies I will use for fishing. I love fly fishing and really like the environment. You can always learn something new or a new approach. Personally, I am passionate about sharing my approach, skills, and knowledge, and since 2001, I have been an instructor in the Danish Sport Fishing Association.
I am really looking forward to tying flies on the island and meeting a lot of like-minded fly fishing enthusiasts.
