I was born in Florence (Italy), the city where I live, and fishing has been and is the passion of my life.
At about 17 years old I switched to fly fishing with conviction, and I was immediately won over by fly construction, which later led me to enter the world of fly construction competitions, where I had great satisfaction, and not only for the victories, but for having met guys with whom I compared myself and developed a way of building that was born above all from the immense fortune of having had Francesco Palù as our mentor and inspirer of an Italian Style, which through the choice of materials and their particular arrangement, gives movement and the appearance of life to the imitation. This vision of vitality of the artificial as a whole in Italy was done in a conscious and refined way, not by chance.
I tie flies based on the fish I'm going to fish, both freshwater and saltwater, and salmon flies, sea trout, and I've also dabbled in hyper realism, in short I've always liked to wander in the world of fly tying. In addition to fishing, I travel the world for international fairs and fly festivals where I'm invited to tie flies and sometimes workshops, and among the most significant experiences are the fly festivals in Monaco EWF, Denmark, Sweden, Holland, Belgium, Ireland, BFFI In England, and in the USA in Somerset for the Fly Tying Symposium.
I am in the families of Ahrex Hooks, Core Hooks, Swiss CDC, and FlyFish Europe with its brands.
With Gianluca Nocentini we wrote the "Manual of the Modern Artificial Fly Builder", and I have collaborated with magazines in the sector where I have written many articles, and several of my interpretations of flies are in various international books.
With my friend Federico Renzi and in collaboration with EOS Verona, during the fair we organize the corner of Italian and international fly tyers "Italian Fly Tying Show", the most important and visited fly tying festival in Italy.
