Many of Europe’s last natural flowing rivers can be found on Balkan. Each year, numerous fly fishermen travel to these crystal clear streams to try their luck with big and shy trout.
Today, these rivers on Balkan are under threat from more the 3000 water power projects, that are sold as environment friendly energy, but what is not told, is that the projects will destroy 20.000 km streams and undermine locals livelihood.
The film Blue Heart follows the people who fight against corrupt officials and the water power mafia, to save the unique streams in Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Macedonia. Blue Hart is a beautiful and thought-provoking story and is a part of the campaign Save the Blue Heart of Europe, which is sponsored by Patagonia.
The film is 40 minutes and will be presented by Uffe Westerberg (chair, Environment Committee, Federation of Fly Fishers Denmark). After the film it will be possible to ask questions, have a discussion and maybe share memories from the Balkan waters.
